The Mawson’s Huts Foundation is a not for profit organisation established to conserve Australia’s antarctic heritage, including the legacy of Sir Douglas Mawson and the signficant historic huts from the Australian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-1914.

Situated in one of the most remote places on earth, the huts have withstood over 100 years of antarctic winds. The work of the foundation, which funds expeditions to the site, has saved the main building from imploding and being blown into the Southern ocean, just 60 metres away.

VM Design over saw the management and selection of both historical & contemporary images from a vast treasure trove of photographs, assisted with copywriting, helped establish a membership structure and managed the design and construction of the website including WooCommerce functionality for the foundations online store. We also integrated a further two websites – The Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum and The Australian Antarctic Festival into the Foundation’s main website to provide streamlined access for all visitors.

We have also supported the foundation’s work on the Mawson Gallery, The Mobile Antarctic Classroom, managed their EDM’s and continue to work on a range of other activities.
